Last of call of the day is a huge reminder how important it is to get your home checked. I attended a property to do a annual gas safety cert and on testing I found a 4.58mb drop, even with the only appliance isolated. I lifted the floor boards and found two issues 1- A compression stop end on a gas pipe under floors which contravenes regulations. 2- Quote a big leak on and old brass onto copper soldered tee under the floor. Both sections were cut out and replaced and re tested and the tenants are now safe which is the main thing!

You can’t beat that new tool bag feeling can you 😊

We initially attended to this system to replace leaking internals of a downstairs drain off cock, on draining it became clear it was one of the dirtiest systems I’ve come across in a long time, the customer complained that the hot water wasn’t getting hot and the radiators were Luke warm. We re attended and Carried out the recommended work including new boiler however the flushing was the most important part of the job, it took us the best part of a day this is not including putting in cleaner the day before. We removed so much sludge and crap from the system… the water is now clear, every single radiator is very hot and the hot water is 50 plus degrees on max flow the magma clean definitely paid for itself on this job! Happy customer and happy system 😊

Called to do a landlord gas safety cert for a landlord and was told it’s only a year old so there won’t be any problems. The installer let the landlord down and then called to inform them that he was too busy to attend. I found the following…. ❌No Benchmark ❌No bonding @ meter and no sticker/ notice attached ❌Flue not sealed internally or externally. ❌Boiler not registered! The importance of getting your boiler serviced and checked annually can not be ignored! We attended today to have a look at the “pilot light not lighting”, on inspection we found the top of the combustion chamber to have corroded through. The customer told us it’s not been serviced in years, they are lucky no one came to any harm. 🚨 I received a call from a concerned daughter saying her mother gets headaches sometimes when the fires on downstairs and she is in her bedroom upstairs or when she goes to bed after the fires been in use all day( the property doesn’t have central heating only one fire). I went along today and found the chimney to be leaking products of combustion in multiple places. It was isolated made safe, labelled accordingly and a new quote had been provided.
